YES! Miguel Duhamel to race MotoGP at Laguna Seca!
In a press release from American Honda, it's been confirmed that Miguel Duhamel will race a Gresini Honda RC212V as a wild card rider in the Red Bull USGP MotoGP race at Laguna Seca later this month. Duhamel will ride in place of the injured Toni Elias.
Duhamel has been an institution in American motorcycle road racing, and has been a fixture at American Honda for many years. But some may not know that Duhamel actually raced in MotoGP...well, in 500 Grand Prix as it was known back in 1992.
It's been a while since Duhamel, or even Honda for that matter, has won an AMA Superbike race. But Duhamel is a gritty veteran, and always fights tooth and nail for that next position. Duhamel has won races while injured, sometimes winning on a day when he could hardly walk to the bike without help. With his track knowledge and experience, Miguel could very well humiliate some of the MotoGP regulars.
We are SO looking forward to seeing this race.
