The new Can-Am Spyder is out, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit that, well.....I kinda like it. Maybe its the fact that I'm not as young as I used to be. Maybe its because the Spyder is unique, different, weird, and I like that. If you've ever seen my Bandit 1200 custom you'd know that I'm not afraid of weird bikes.
There are a few tests of the Can-Am Spyder out now, here's a good one.

But is the Can-Am Spyder really a bike? Obviously not. But it sure isn't a car, either. Does Bombardier think that motorcycle riders will be buying the Spyder? I don't think so. In fact, I remember reading somewhere that their target market is ATV riders looking for a similar experience on the street. So it's somewhere in between a bike and a car, skewed toward bike I would say.
Snowmobile sales are going down the toilet since there's so little snow anymore. I applaud Bombardier for trying something new. Heck, they can't rely on the snow machine market to keep them alive.
I'm not too keen on all the electronic traction controls on the Spyder. But I suppose they're needed to keep people out of trouble. Personally I'd like to try to wheelie one.
Ah, if my garage were only about 3 times the size....
