Default Looking for Advice on jetting a Bandit 1200

Hi,
Can anyone give me advice on jetting my Bandit? Here's the deal...
It's a 99 Bandit 1200. Engine is internally stock, but has no airbox, K&N pod air filters, and a short, straight exhaust with only a Harley-type metal baffle in it. It's somewhat loud, but not as much as you might think.

Anyway, I've put in #38 main jets, haven't yet changed pilot jets. The bike runs pretty good, but hesitates when you crack open the throttle. When you open the throttle quickly it hesitates for a second, then runs like a bat outta hell.

I taped off about 1/2 of the air filters, that actually helped. I guess its too lean with the filters completely exposed. Maybe I should change to bigger jets?

I'm trying to refine the jetting to eliminate the initial hesitation. Any suggestions?
